Rangers Battle Late, Come up Short at Tulsa
May 11, 2016

The Little Rock Rangers went on the road Wednesday night to face an established Tulsa Athletics team, falling 1-0 in the contest. Tulsa was able to force the action early, getting a number of opportunities before Damieon Thomas headed home a goal off a ball from Niall Masterson in the 17th minute. The Rangers, energized by some second half subs, were able to garner some chances in the second half, but were unable to put one in goal. Bryce Deaton had a good day in goal for the Rangers, saving nine.

Little Rock Rangers President and General Manager, Jonathan Wardlaw, reassured fans after Wednesday's game and spoke about the team's playing style, "I realize we might seem 'behind' and partially we are, but I (and the coaches) also refuse to give into the 'kick and rush', 'over the top', 'long ball', or whatever you want to call it, soccer. One of my goals in creating this team is to create better soccer here in AR. Playing that way is not something that I feel is beneficial to our youth watching and looking up to us."

Looking forward to the rest of the season, Wardlaw said, "Be patient we will get better. Once our guys get the start of the season jitters out and get to know each other better I feel we will "gel" and be able to maintain more possession. Some guys are starting slow, some are starting nervous and tight, once we get settled and on the same page mentally we will get it going and get some wins. Now all that said, Tulsa is a great team and established team (Founded in 2005); I don't want to take anything away from them."

The Rangers will be back in action this Sunday, May 15th, against the Houston Regals. Game time is at 6 PM at War Memorial Stadium. Tickets can be bought at LittleRockRangers.com or at the gate.
