After a successful inaugural season in the National Premier Soccer League, the Little Rock Rangers Soccer Club is expanding to include a women’s side. The women’s team will kick off in spring of 2017 and will be a part of the Women’s Premier Soccer League.
Team President, Jonathan Wardlaw, was pleased with the success of the 2016 season and looks to meet the demand for more soccer with the women’s side in 2017, “We were an expansion team in the NPSL this year and one of the first questions I get when talking to fans is 'when can we expect a women's team?' I expect us to be competitive immediately with all of the quality women's programs surrounding us. It is a very exciting time for soccer fans in Little Rock.”
The women’s side will be coached by Jennifer Pfeiffer who helped lead the Little Rock Rangers men to a 5-6-1 record, including four straight victories to end the season. Pfeiffer will look to build a team that capitalizes on the number of talented female soccer players in the state of Arkansas. “What a great opportunity for the Women in Arkansas to continue to play soccer at a high level for the summer. We will be in the stands watching, recruiting college players this fall, and look forward to tryouts for Little Rock Rangers.”
The team will hold tryouts in the first part of 2017. The women’s side will continue to contribute to the Little Rock Rangers’ goal of improving soccer in the greater central Arkansas area.
